The Gist of 'Kadangkala'

Assalamualaikum

'Sometimes' in equation with 'Kadangkala'

'Kadangkala'

Kadangkala
kita lupa menghargai
sesuatu yang kita ada
selagi ia masih di sisi
selagi ia kita miliki;

Kadangkala
kita leka mensia-siakan
anugerah dan pemberian
kerana kurang pengertian;

Kadangkala
kita tidak berterima kasih
kepada mereka yang berbudi
sehingga mereka dah tiada lagi;

Kadangkala
kita tidak peduli sangat
tentang kebajikan dan kemanusiaan
sudah terhakis rasa keihsanan;

Kadangkala
kita tidak ikhlas dan suci hati
terhadap mereka yang …
membimbing
menasihati
mengambil berat
memahami
menyayangi;

Kadangkala
kita mudah terlajak kata
mudah terlanjur aksi
lupa tatasusila
lupa diri;
Paling dahsyat
kita selalu alpa
mensyukuri nikmat kurniaan Ilahi!

Aduhai
jangan nanti
dah tiada baru terasa
dah tinggal baru menyesal
dah hilang baru walang
dah berpisah baru gundah
dah habis baru menangis!

'Sometimes' is the English equated version of my original Malay poem 'Kadangkala'.

It is not an exact translation of the original piece. I tried to provide a very close similarity to the meanings contained in the original poem.

Hopefully English users will find this version helpful to really grasp the meanings in between the lines of the ‘poetic’ renderings in that Malay version.

English equated version of  'Sometimes'

Sometimes
one forgets to appreciate
things that come one’s way
things that by one’s side stay
faithful in one’s possession
continuously for a long duration

Sometimes
one simply put to waste
special things
splendour and grace
a habitual result of
failing and lacking
in compromising

Sometimes
one is never grateful
to those whose good deeds abound
until they are no more around

Sometimes
one does not heed
that much
about well-being and humanity
leaving so faint a trace of generosity

Sometimes
one is neither sincere
nor filled with gratitude
towards those who
Guides
Counseled
Cares
Comprehends
Loves …

Sometimes
one speaks without tact
and in action tends to overact
forgetting manners
and all awareness
and worse
one frequently fails
to acknowledge
the endowment
so rich and heavenly
from the Almighty!

Alas
for goodness sake
don’t brood when all’s gone for good
no regrets with feelings of emptiness
alone,forlorn and filled with sadness
the pain, the sorrow
will show sooner or later
because by then
no fear
when all’s gone
then falls many a tear!
