Worthy of Note

Assalamualaikum n Greetings

A Happening Remembered

Photographs speak wider than words! Herein some selected moments recorded at Dewan Perkasa in the vicinity of the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) one Friday afternoon of May 9 2014.

My involvement here was just as an ordinarily invited layman to witness the launching of a very historically significant title Reminiscences of Insurrection written by Lt Colonel Mohd Azzam bin Hanif Ghows (Rtd).

With author Lt Col Mohd Azzam bin Haniff Ghows (Rtd)

Malaysia's renowned statesman . . . former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad . . . officiated at the launch. A job he did with such simplicity but with much articulated excellence.

His presence as always caused much excitement among the audience who were overwhelm with admiration for his off-the-cuff speech and matter-of-fact comments.

I shall always think of the appropriateness to have attended the event . . . and consider it a privilege to have met many celebrated figures at the occasion.

With Dato' Mohd Yasin Yusof (ex Supt of Poliice)

With (L to R)
Maj Gen Dato' Megat Mahmud (Rtd); Gen Tan Sri Yaacob Mohd Zain
(ex Chief of the Armed Forces); Lt Col Basri Omar PGB (Rtd)

With Tan Sri Gen Hashim bin Mohd Ali (ex Chief of the Armed Forces)

With Tun Mohammed Haniff Omar (ex Inspector General of Police)

The icing on the cake was the moment when yours sincerely had the opportunity to come face-to-face with the Right Honourable Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad . . . shook his hands, managed an utterance of some respectable words . . . and getting an immediate 'diplomatic' response from him!

With Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad

Writer:
Just want to tell you this . . . Tun
Tun:
Ha apa dia?
Writer:
I've waited over many long years to shake your hands . . .
Tun:
(in a highly diplomatic manner)
I waited that long too . .. you tak mai pun . . .

All said and done . . . what a colourful happening that afternoon's outing proved to be!

Alhamdulillah.
